Alternative Energy Committee Accelerates School Solar Project
Alternative Energy Sources Committee · Meeting of April 2, 2026
Cohasset accelerates solar procurement for school array to meet tax credit deadline. The Alternative Energy Subcommittee moved up the timeline to secure a Letter of Intent by July 2, 2026, to qualify for a 30 percent federal tax credit before a July 4 safe harbor deadline. Committee Chair Tanya Bodell and member Doran Hole emphasized the value of locking in long-term energy pricing of 8 to 12 cents per kilowatt-hour, significantly lower than current market rates of 15 to 22 cents.
School Counsel approved the RFP documents with minor revisions, and the Committee confirmed five qualified bidders on the outreach list.
