COHASSET — Alternative Energy Committee advances solar expansion and climate commitment plans. Palmer Capital's new equipment for the old landfill solar arrays is expected to return to service within two months with production of 600,000 kilowatt-hours annually, providing approximately $96,000 in annual benefits at current net metering rates. To advance statewide Climate Leaders status, Committee members Tanya Bodell and Debbie Cook identified potential Select Board champions for warrant articles proposing a municipal decarbonization commitment to eliminate on-site fossil fuel use by 2050, a specialized stretch code, and a zero-emission-vehicle-first policy.
The Committee also decided to restart an education speaker series on renewable energy and batteries.
