Cohasset Approves $24.76 Million Budget, Water Protection Measures

Cohasset backs $24.76 million budget and water protections at annual meeting. The town unanimously approved the fiscal 2002 operating budget with $10.14 million allocated to schools, $700,000 for cemetery expansion, and $380,000 in appropriations for water and sewer infrastructure including treatment plant studies and acquisition of the Wolf Pit property for water supply protection. A proposed rezoning to expand commercial development on Chief Justice Cushing Highway failed with 170 voting yes and 95 no, falling short of the required two-thirds majority.
Bylaw amendments strengthened hazardous materials regulations and water resource protections while establishing accessory dwelling unit provisions.
