Cohasset approves $33.4 million operating budget

Cohasset approves $33.4 million budget and $3 million septic program. Moderator Daniel Evans opened the April 30 town meeting with 100 voters present. The fiscal 2012 operating budget, adopted by 2/3 vote, allocated $15.4 million to schools, $4.1 million to public safety, and $2.2 million to public works.
Voters authorized $3 million in borrowing from the Massachusetts Water Pollution Abatement Trust for septic system repairs. Zoning amendments expanded the Highway Business District by 2.86 acres and adopted comprehensive wind energy regulations setting 260-foot tower height limits.
