Cohasset Select Board doubles RTF bag and sticker fees, defers pilot program vote

COHASSET — September 9, 2025 — Cohasset Select Board unanimously doubled transfer station fees and deferred a vote on a non-resident sticker pilot program at its September 9 meeting. Blue bag fees will rise from $2 to $4 for the 33-gallon size and from $1 to $2 for the 16-gallon size effective on or about November 1, 2025; sticker fees — contingent on passage of an RTF enterprise fund at the November 3 Special Town Meeting — would double to $150 for a standard first vehicle and $60 for a senior first vehicle, effective around April 1, 2026. The board deferred a vote on a proposed 250-to-300-sticker pilot for non-residents at $250 each, which would generate an estimated $75,000; without that revenue, one board member noted, the full-price sticker would need to rise to approximately $175 to break even. The board also heard a pitch from Circuit EV for a five-vehicle electric shuttle connecting Cohasset, Hingham, and Hull under a MassCEC grant worth up to $1 million, with a potential $41,700 annual cost-share per town, but directed the company to redraft its letter of support before a September 16 vote ahead of a September 22 grant deadline.
