Committee advances solar installation timeline for Deer Hill School

Alternative Energy Sources Committee · Meeting of February 12, 2026

Cohasset Alternative Energy Committee targets July 2026 for Deer Hill solar array. The committee is advancing plans to install solar panels at Deer Hill School, which must begin construction by July 4 to qualify for a 30 percent federal tax credit. The town is also pursuing a $500,000 decarbonization grant due April 10, with DPW Director Brian Joyce leading the effort and Julia Gillis writing the application.

The town's existing solar landfill project is expected to produce 600,000 kilowatt hours annually, generating approximately $96,000 in net metering value at current rates.
