COHASSET — Public Safety Facilities Committee unanimously backs $26.8M police station with unfitted fire substation shell. Chair Glenn Pratt led the vote recommending Option C to the Select Board, down from the original $28.4 million fully operational plan and up from the police-only $25 million option. The shell design permits immediate emergency vehicle storage and future fire department expansion without staffing costs.
Committee members including Vice Chair Rich Kinscherf and Doug McGregor also authorized $150,000 from Capital Budget for schematic drawings on the 44 Elm Street fire station redesign, with OPM warning that project delays will drive costs higher.
