Committee schedules solar array RFP for schools

Alternative Energy Sources Committee · Meeting of March 26, 2026

Cohasset solar array moves toward school building evaluation. The Alternative Energy Subcommittee, led by Chair Tanya Bodell, established a timeline for proposing solar installations at Deerhill and Osgood schools: pending School Committee approval April 15, an RFP would release April 16, with responses due and a decision targeted for early May. Committee member Doran Hole noted that federal safe harbor requirements mandate initial construction activities, primarily module procurement, before July 1.

The subcommittee is reviewing three years of historical National Grid energy data for school accounts and has identified six viable solar vendors, with outreach efforts ongoing to establish contact with multiple companies.
