COHASSET — Open Space and Recreation Committee discusses Wheelwright Park cell tower petition. Attorney Fred Zotos outlined small cell technology as an alternative to the planned installation, estimating units at $25,000 each compared to a cell tower cost of $500,000 to $1 million, and suggested consulting Town Counsel and a real estate attorney regarding land trust restrictions. The committee heard that the Conservation Commission has outstanding questions for Wireless Edge before review can proceed, and the Planning Board has not yet received the project.
The state is expected to approve the town's Open Space and Recreation Plan in June.
