Open Space & Recreation Committee · Meeting of October 13, 2026

COHASSET — The Cohasset Open Space & Recreation Committee ranked roughly 50 action items in its draft Open Space and Recreation Plan update as low, medium, high or ongoing priorities. Citizen at Large Maryanne Wetherald pushed to raise land-acquisition items tied to drought and wildfire resilience, saying "it needs to move up from low to high" given recent fire activity near Lambert's Lane. Planning Board Representative Birgit Schmidt-Wesche described the committee's ongoing role reporting unsafe pedestrian and bicycle conditions, including along Forest AB near the commuter rail station, to the town's Roads and Sidewalks Committee.

Members also raised evaluating reuse of the former downtown teen center property and a winter snowshoe-rental program to high priority, and floated a youth sports equipment swap for the March recreation fair. No votes were taken.
