COHASSET — Public Safety Facilities Committee discusses Town Meeting Article 21 presentation strategy for new police station. Chair Glenn Pratt outlined a segmented approach in which committee members would present different components. Police Chief William Quigley noted that the proposal has been on the Capital Budget plan since 2005, when the estimated cost was 4.5 million dollars; it has since quadrupled.

Chase Colasurdo, President of the Patrolmen's Association, described a recent incident in which a malfunctioning booking room safe locked officers' firearms inside, characterizing the facility as both embarrassing and a safety hazard. The committee confirmed it has evaluated alternatives and recommends a single option.
