COHASSET — Public Safety Facilities Committee elects officers and maps redesign strategy. Glenn Pratt was elected Chair, Richard Kinscherf Vice Chair, and Dan Tarpey Clerk at the committee's March 2 meeting. The committee discussed a redesign of the 135 King Street public safety facility under a $200,000 contract after the original plan was deemed too expensive.
The new design eliminates the fire substation; committee members debated whether to build the foundation anyway for future use. OPM Dan Pallotta stressed urgency, advising the committee to decide quickly to capitalize on current competitive bidding conditions and warning that further delays will increase taxpayer costs. The committee scheduled a meeting with architects for March 17, followed by a Select Board presentation on March 19.
