COHASSET — Committee regroups after public safety facility proposal falls short despite receiving 735 votes in favor. The Cohasset Public Safety Facilities Committee met after the recent vote, with members acknowledging poor communication of the $10.4 million cost estimate as a contributing factor. Police Chief William Quigley stressed that $10 million is insufficient to meet base needs, while Melissa Browne highlighted the 64-year-old Elm Street station's failed HVAC, absent fire suppression, and ADA non-compliance.

The committee plans to develop stronger messaging strategies before seeking another vote. Town Manager Michelle Leary noted the town can only add $2.1 million annually to its capital plan, requiring debt exclusions for major projects.
