Cohasset School Committee approves 2027 Model UN trip for 48 students at $950 per student. The Committee voted 5-0 to send high school juniors and seniors to the United Nations for intensive diplomatic simulation, cultural enrichment, and leadership development. In a separate unanimous vote, the Committee declined to participate in Massachusetts School Choice for fiscal year 2027, with Superintendent Dr.
Sarah Shannon advising that the district would receive only $5,000 per School Choice student compared to its $22,000 per-pupil expenditure, creating a structural funding gap and unpredictable special education obligations. The Committee also awarded Dr. Shannon the maximum $10,000 discretionary performance bonus following an Exemplary evaluation across all four DESE standards, citing her exceptional leadership during the FY27 budget crisis, labor negotiations, and district advancement.
