COHASSET — Select Board ratifies union contracts while managing budget constraints. The Cohasset Select Board unanimously ratified three-year labor agreements for the Department of Public Works and two police units covering July 2025 through June 2028. Interim Town Manager Michelle Leary presented the FY27 budget review, noting that public education represents 61 percent of town spending at $26.02 million, with non-education departments sharing $17.21 million.
The town is managing fiscal pressure through departmental cuts including a part-time communications specialist, elimination of the assistant town planner, reduced library hours, a 3 to 5 percent cut across all departments, and a reduction to the assistant town manager/finance director salary.
