Steering Committee backs grant to update housing production plan

Cohasset Affordable Housing Steering Committee authorizes support for housing production plan grant. Chair Paul Kierce was authorized to sign a letter supporting Town Planner Cassandra Thayer's grant application, which seeks funding to update the town's overdue Housing Production Plan. Thayer reported that with pending affordable units at 1 Pleasant Street, Cohasset would reach 11.8 percent affordable housing, exceeding the 10 percent state threshold.
The town faces a potential 6-unit affordable housing gap before the 2030 census, based on Thayer's projection of 80 additional single-family units and a required 25 percent affordability ratio.
