COHASSET — Water Commission approves 4 percent rate increase for private hydrants only. Chair Christopher E. Pratt, Vice Chair Leonora C.
Jenkins, and Clerk Stephen M. Girardi voted unanimously on February 5 to hold town hydrant fees flat while raising private hydrant rates by 4 percent for FY2027, following discussion of a revised policy that would assign hydrant costs to private developments built within the past 20 years including Avalon, Wheelwright Farm, Cook Estate, Toll Bros., and 100 Pond Street. The board also unanimously approved a $157,541.32 water abatement for Unit 305 at 1 Pleasant Street following a meter malfunction that caused an inflated bill.
