Zoning Board approves dock permit, front entrance expansion at two hearings
Zoning Board of Appeals · Meeting of January 5, 2026
Cohasset Zoning Board approves two special permit applications at January 5 hearing. Acting Chair Matthew Watkins oversaw votes granting a dock special permit to Andrew and Kristen Astley at 45 Joy Place and a front entrance expansion permit to Constance and Nader Afshar at 141 South Main Street, both approved 3-0 after the board designated three voting members per bylaw. The board voted 5-0 to continue a retaining wall special permit application from Andrew and Leslie Wise at 84 Gammons Road and a use special permit request from RAJ LLC at 469 Jerusalem Road to the February 2 meeting, with Director John Hallin noting the latter applicant would need to appeal his determination that the subject structure is classified as an accessory structure rather than a single-family dwelling.
The board also voted 5-0 to move its May 2026 public hearing date from May 4 to May 11 to avoid Annual Town Meeting.
