Cohasset Select Board Licenses New Downtown Provisions Store, Backs EV Transit Grant

COHASSET — September 16, 2025 — Cohasset Select Board unanimously licensed a new downtown specialty grocery, re-certified two stabilization funds, and split 2-1 on a regional EV transit grant letter at its September 16 meeting. The board approved an off-premises wine and malt beverage package store license and a common victualer license for Viridia, LLC, doing business as Three Sisters Provisions, at 50 South Main Street, with proposed manager Ashley Schaefer describing a year-round gourmet provisions shop emphasizing local and regional products. The board also re-certified the school special stabilization fund at $1.5 million annually and the roads and sidewalks fund at $800,000, both with a 2.5 percent increase, after the town accountant ruled that prior-year votes could not stand. Nicole Blasche, program director of Safe Harbor Cohasset Coalition, reported that Cohasset high school alcohol use in the past 30 days has dropped from 29 percent in 2019 to 13 percent in 2025, with 53 student ambassadors now enrolled — but flagged that the coalition's federal CDC funding runs out in September 2027. The board voted 2-1, with Paul Grady abstaining, to authorize a letter supporting a Circuit EV microtransit pilot grant application, with Grady saying he remained "a little leery" the commitment was fully vetted.
