Committee Aligns on Four Bylaw Exclusions for Both Historic Districts

Cohasset's historic district panel unifies review authority on paint colors and roofing materials. Chair Woody Chittick and the Village Historic District Study Committee voted to apply the same four exclusions to both the Town Common and Village districts, retaining commission oversight. The committee aims to submit the preliminary study report by late October to the Massachusetts Historical Commission and Planning Board for their mandatory 60-day concurrent review before the April or May 2027 Town Meeting.

Violations of the certificate-of-appropriateness requirement will be subject to fines of up to $300 per day.
