Cohasset Boards Unanimously Appoint Northeastern Senior to School Committee

COHASSET — October 1, 2025 — Cohasset's joint boards appoint a current Northeastern University senior to fill a vacant School Committee seat. The School Committee and Select Board each voted 4-0 Wednesday to seat Jacob Squatrito, a 2022 Cohasset Public Schools graduate, as an interim member until the next town election, expected in late May or early June 2026. Squatrito said he will not seek election to the full term, noting his own graduation falls near the same time. Two other finalists — Drew Knowlton, a PwC partner, and Victoria LaTonsi, a biotechnology professional and Boston University School of Medicine instructor — received nominations from individual board members but did not carry a majority; multiple members publicly urged both to run for open seats in the spring election. School Committee member Cory Evans, who led the push for Squatrito, argued the committee needs a voice from someone who spent six years inside the school building as it weighs a potential major renovation and a fragile post-deficit budget.
