COHASSET — October 7, 2025 — Cohasset Select Board unanimously pulls proposed public safety building from November 3 special town meeting warrant. Chair Ellen Carr led the 5-0 vote at the October 7 meeting, saying the roughly $18 million project needs more time after the Advisory Committee and Capital Budget Committee raised unresolved questions the previous evening about fire department operations, Elm Street funding, and cost benchmarking. "It is too important to slide," said member Julie Rollins, who nevertheless agreed to delay. Working group member Dan Tarpey warned the board that postponement risks discouraging contractors from bidding, potentially driving the cost higher. The board also unanimously recommended Article 7, creating an enterprise fund for the Recycling Transfer Facility, and closed the amended warrant — canceling a previously scheduled November 15 special town election because no debt-exclusion ballot question remains. Town Manager Chris Senior presented Department of Elementary and Secondary Education data showing Cohasset spends nearly $22,000 per pupil, more than neighboring Scituate, Hingham, and Georgetown.
