Select Board · Meeting of October 20, 2026

Cohasset's Select Board approved a joint FY28 "one town, one budget" message and set three budget forums before May's town meeting. Vice Chair Ellen Maher presented the edited budget message, which commits the town to maintaining its AAA bond rating and increasing capital funding for schools, roads and sidewalks by 2.5 percent annually; the board adopted it unanimously without a recorded numeric tally. Member Gregory Watts said the plan "hits the course of what we've been driving towards the last several months." Planning Board representative Cassandra Thayer briefed the board on a roughly $190,000 state grant funding a proposed "Social Resilience Hub," with Town Hall and the South Shore Community Center emerging as finalist sites.

The board also assigned members to speak on Special Town Meeting articles, including a water bottle ban and noise control and surveillance bylaws, and noted a $18,000-plus state grant for a Beachwood radar sign. Minutes and adjournment both carried 4-0.
