Capital Budget Committee Approves $163,824 Jacobs Meadow Tide Gate Replacement
Capital Budget Committee · Meeting of August 31, 2026
Cohasset Capital Budget Committee unanimously approves $163,824 tide gate replacement at Jacobs Meadow. Chair Susan Franklin led the 4-0-0 vote to authorize the emergency project, which will replace the deteriorating structure with 316L stainless steel. Kevin Cronin of the Department of Public Works confirmed the material has performed well since 2009 in Hull; the upgrade includes a dual stem operator to address existing gate movement issues.
The committee also heard Water Commission presentations on special town meeting warrant items: borrowing up to $8 million for residual management lagoons, $2 million for a water treatment plant pilot study, and an additional $300,000 for Route 3A water main replacement design changes.
