Conservation Commission · Meeting of October 8, 2026
COHASSET — The Cohasset Conservation Commission steered a King Street water lagoon redesign toward "Alternative 1" and continued two hearings while clearing two completed projects. Chair Chris McIntyre polled commissioners individually, and six of seven, including Vice Chair Steven Magnell and Secretary Kathy Berigan, backed Alternative 1 over options requiring up to 70 percent more ledge blasting near the plant. Member Tom Bell pushed back, saying the lagoons' size seemed tied to contracted water sales to other towns, prompting DPW's JR Fry to insist the project "has nothing to do with increasing our capacity to deliver water." The hearing continues November 5.
In a second case, commissioners agreed to 2-to-1 tree mitigation and a twice-yearly cap on cutting high-tide bush for a Supper Island access path at 90 Black Horse Lane, continued to October 22. The board also voted 7-0-0 twice, issuing certificates of compliance for projects at 10 Mohawk Way and 95 Atlantic Avenue.
