Cohasset Panel Approves Ripley Road Driveway Plan

Conservation Commission · Meeting of August 6, 2026

Cohasset conservation panel previews a plan to crack down on marsh-damaging docks. The Conservation Commission voted 5-0 to approve a driveway reconfiguration at 89 Ripley Road for Gunrock Realty Trust and issued two certificates of compliance for a pool project at 32 Orchard Drive. Conservation Agent Charlotte Pechtel unveiled a Woods Hole Group draft restoration plan for the Gulf River, funded by a state Coastal Zone Management grant, that names dock proliferation as a major stressor on salt marshes.

Chair Chris McIntyre called some dock proposals "quite frankly, just ridiculous," and Pechtel said she has an enforcement letter drafted for every dock owner in town. Member Amy McKinnon, disclosing she lives on the Gulf River, said she has watched a five-year decline in shellfish, seabirds and striped bass. The board also welcomed new members Lori Ferreira and Amy McKinnon after William Ashton's move to the Select Board left a vacancy, tabling his liaison replacement to August 20.
