Cohasset School Committee OKs After-School Handbook, Appoints Interim Finance Director
School Committee · Meeting of August 26, 2026
Cohasset schools scrap daily after-school drop-in care, add reservation system. Program director Brett Youmans told the School Committee state licensing rules now cap the Before and After School Program at a 1-to-13 staff ratio, forcing a shift to five reservable morning and afternoon slots per session, with rates rising to $20 and $30. The committee gave the handbook preliminary approval 3-0, with Chair Jennifer Lesky and member Danielle Ziady absent.
Superintendent Sarah Shannon reported the Osgood School roof finished at $2,687,147, nearly $2.3 million under estimate, triggering an $872,515 state reimbursement that will fund an October 26 special town meeting request for up to $2 million toward a required MSBA feasibility study. "It's just another part of the process," member Corey Evans said of that vote. The committee also unanimously appointed Patricia Boyer interim director of finance and operations.
