Advisory Committee endorses operating budget, defers climate resolution

Advisory Committee · Meeting of March 31, 2026

Cohasset Advisory Committee endorses FY27 operating budget, unanimously defers climate resolution. The committee approved the budget 8-0-1, with Courtney Murphy abstaining, after Interim Town Manager Michelle Leary presented a budget developed through school-town collaboration; the School Committee had approved the companion budget 5-0. The committee deferred Article 22, a non-binding resolution targeting 50 percent net-zero municipal emissions by 2030 and 100 percent by 2050, to refine language before Annual Town Meeting.

Passage could help the town pursue up to $1.15 million in climate-leader status grants from the state. The committee rejected citizen petitions on noise control and Wheelwright Park.
