Cohasset School Committee accepts nearly $98,000 in community organization donations

COHASSET — January 7, 2025 — Cohasset School Committee unanimously accepts nearly $98,000 in donations and endorses a South Shore Educational Collaborative capital reserve fund. The committee, meeting January 7 with four members present, voted 4-0 to accept an $89,825 grant from the Cohasset Education Foundation funding projects ranging from outdoor seating upgrades at Osgood School to district-wide work with Challenge Success, and a separate $8,143 donation from the PSO covering items including pre-school fitness center supervision and climbing wall equipment. The board also voted 4-0 to support the South Shore Educational Collaborative's bid to establish a capital reserve fund — funded solely from budget surpluses, with no cost to member districts — as the collaborative approaches a lease decision on its Hull location; Executive Director Michael Loesch said Cohasset appeared to be approximately the eighth of the required two-thirds of member districts to approve the measure. The committee then moved into executive session for collective bargaining discussions on the teachers' contract, not to return to public session.
