Cohasset School Committee Separates Service Animal Policy, Eyes November Building Vote
Cohasset School Committee endorses five-year strategic plan and separates service animal policy on first meeting of the school year.
COHASSET -- September 3, 2025, Cohasset School Committee endorses five-year strategic plan and separates service animal policy on first meeting of the school year. Superintendent Sarah Shannon unveiled the graphically redesigned strategic plan, organized around teaching and learning, wellness, community engagement, and resources, and announced Cohasset Middle High School ranked fourth in the state and first on the South Shore in Boston Magazine's latest school rankings. The committee voted unanimously to split its service animal policy from its broader animals-in-school policy, a procedural separation with no change to the underlying language, prompted in part by an anticipated near-term accommodation need. Shannon also confirmed the district's electric bus has been replaced with a diesel vehicle pending final inspection, with the Select Board expected to ratify the capital fund transfer around September 22. Most urgently, officials flagged a 90-day clock triggered by a Massachusetts School Building Authority letter on Osgood School, requiring a bonding vote at a November 5 special town meeting, and called on families to show up.
