Cohasset School Committee Unanimously Approves Osgood and Deer Hill Improvement Plans

COHASSET — June 3, 2026 — Cohasset School Committee approves elementary school improvement plans and reorganizes for the coming year. The board voted unanimously Wednesday to endorse the 2026-2027 School Improvement Plans for Joseph Osgood School and Deer Hill School, with both principals centering four shared goals: strengthening multi-tiered academic and behavioral supports, expanding play-based and project-based learning, deepening staff and student wellness, and elevating student voice. Students from Safe Harbor's Cohasset Minds Matter program reported that 45.8 percent of surveyed students described their school-year stress as high or very high, with mental health day flexibility and better test coordination topping students' requested supports. Director of Student Services Michael Stapleton reported that the district earned 38 out of 39 possible points — a 97 — on its federal IDEA determination for 2024-2025, after personally meeting with state officials to correct an initial undercount. The committee also adopted subcommittee and liaison assignments for 2026-2027, collapsing collective bargaining into a school governance subcommittee, and accepted a gift from the Parent-School Organization on a 5-0 vote.
