Committee explores sites as police and fire station conditions deteriorate

Public Safety Facilities Committee · Meeting of June 17, 2026

Cohasset Public Safety Committee evaluates facility alternatives to 135 King Street proposal. Chair Glenn Pratt welcomed new members Daniel Duffy and Richard Fitzpatrick as the committee heard from Police Chief William Quigley and Fire Chief John Dockray about severe conditions including mold, crumbling plumbing, and inadequate HVAC systems at current stations. The Select Board directed the committee to evaluate three options: a fire facility at 44 Elm Street, a reduced-scope 135 King Street, and a public safety compound at 62/44 Elm Street.

Project Manager Dan Pallotta and Architect Paula Claridge concluded Elm Street cannot accommodate both departments without a three-story building, requiring five million to seven million dollars in temporary relocation costs, with the committee agreeing to compile documentation on why each alternative site is infeasible.
