Committee Prioritizes Elm Street Analysis for Police Station Project
Public Safety Facilities Committee · Meeting of June 25, 2026
COHASSET — Committee puts education campaign first for police facility vote. The Public Safety Facilities Committee discussed November special town meeting or May 2027 annual meeting timelines for the police station redesign, then agreed to prioritize Elm Street analysis and develop a public education campaign on project costs and mitigation by September. Chair Glenn Pratt questioned King Street redesign value, Police Chief William Quigley warned early presentation could invite suggestions that derail the timeline, and Chase Colasurdo of the police union cautioned against space cuts.
The facility's existing problems, including unaddressed mold, poor conditions, and staffing pressure with only one recruit from 60 applicants, are affecting officer morale and retention.
